Bishop Prof. (Dr.) R. B. Lal
Vice Chancellor |
Welcome from the
Vice Chancellor's
Sam Higginbottom
Institute of
Agriculture, Technology
and Science - Deemed
University (SHIATS-DU)
is a unique,
technology-infused
Institution that was
founded by a true
servant of the Lord
Jesus Christ with a
vision to make our
country self reliant in
food production. The
Lord has guided him and
he cradled this
Institution at the
confluence of three
rivers in eastern part
of the state. His
Mission was to educate
students in the fields
of advancing technology
to become innovators of
the future. Since then,
SHIATS-DU's campus
culture is devoted to
continually nurturing a
thriving learner
community, where
everyone's personal
lives and professional
aspirations revolve
around technology and
science. Our students
feel at home and are
supported spiritually,
socially and culturally
as well as academically
during their time with
us, which accomplishes
our mission to be a
student-centered
university. We are, at
our core, a Christian
university. The
character, example, and
concerns of Jesus Christ
are the standards that
shape us and provide the
course for our future.
Because of this, an
all-encompassing love
for God and a
corresponding love for
people are at the heart
of who we are.
Our roots go deep that
provides the foundation
for our picturesque
campus, yet our vision
for continued success is
future-driven as we
strive to offer the
newest technologies and
teaching methods that
prepare our students for
unbridled success and
opportunities for
lifelong learning.
Our students come from
all walks, but they
share a common
expectation for their
educational experience.
When graduates leave our
campus with degree in
hand, armed with the
professional skills to
build successful
communities and nurture
families, we thank Lord
Jesus Christ that we
have succeeded in our
academic mission. When
our alumni supplement
professional and
academic skills with
good citizenship and
service qualities
learned at SHIATS, we
know that we have
realized our mission to
be a comprehensive
university. At SHIATS,
we cherish our ability
to build a brighter
future for our region,
our state and beyond by
calling upon past
success. This
distinction, moves our
University beyond
instruction in an ivory
tower, firmly
establishing us as an
institution of
innovation and
inspiration. We have
devoted all of our
resources to create a
vital academic
environment where
students are challenged
to achieve, explore new
and practice what they
learn in real-world
situations. This
combination of research
and application creates
technically proficient
scholars, who are
equally at home in
academia and the working
world, and valued by
both. SHIATS offers
students a well-rounded
education in a
non-traditional setting,
which is dedicated to
scholastic excellence
and technological
innovation.
We have come a long way
since our beginnings in
1910. As we set our
sights on the future,
using our recently
adopted Strategic Plan
as the compass by which
we will chart our
course, we are excited
by the endless
possibilities. We
present this strategic
plan with a heart of
humility, realizing that
God alone is sovereign.
While we can survey,
discuss, dream and plan,
God controls the future.
So, as we present our
vision for the future of
our University, we offer
it to God with the words
of our Lord Jesus:
“Father…not (our) will,
but yours be done” (Luke
22:42).
As always, we hope you
will linger on our
website, get to know us
better, and join our
progress.
“Haggai 'the Prophet, in
chapter 2:7-9 (as given)
could be appropriated
for SHIATS,
“I will shake all
nations, and what is
desired by all nations
will come, and I will
fill this house with
glory,' says the LORD
Almighty. 'The silver is
mine and the gold is
mine,' declares the LORD
Almighty. 'The glory of
this present house will
be greater than the
glory of the former
house,' says the LORD
Almighty. 'And in this
place I will grant
peace,' declares the
LORD Almighty.”
May the good LORD bless
our nation through this
University.
