NEW NAME & Clarification for DEGREE recipients

The Vision and Mission of Dr. Sam Higginbottom a pioneering missionary of Agricultural Education and Rural Development and founder of the Allahabad Agricultural Institute, which started in the year 1910 has completed 100 years of dedicated and un-relentless service to the nation.

The Board of Directors and the Executive Council of the University had unanimously decided to pay homage and honor the work of selfless, committed Educational reformer Dr. Sam Higginbottom by re-christening the Allahabad Agricultural Institute-Deemed University as Sam Higginbottom Institute of Agriculture, Technology & Sciences.

A proposal pertaining to the change in name of the Deemed-to-be-University was submitted by the University to the Ministry of Human Resource Development. The Government of India, Ministry of Human Resource Development has vide communication bearing reference No. F.13-7/2008-U.3.A, dated September 22, 2009 was pleased to permit Re-Christening of the Allahabad Agricultural Institute-Deemed University as :

“SAM HIGGINBOTTOM INSTITUTE OF AGRICULTURE, TECHNOLOGY & SCIENCES”
(Formerly Allahabad Agricultural Institute)
(Deemed-to-be-University)

1. Now, students, who have completed their academic programmes (UG, PG and Ph. D.) in June 2009 will be conferred degrees under the banner of Allahabad Agricultural Institute-Deemed University. Further, those students, who could not complete their academic programmes in June 2009 may be due to delay in their research/thesis submission/back examination etc. and now have completed or will complete the same after June 2009, will also get their degrees under the banner of Allahabad Agricultural Institute-Deemed University.
    
2. Those students who will complete their degrees in June 2010 will be conferred degrees under the new name i. e. “Sam Higginbottom Institute of Agriculture, Technology & Sciences”. However, with this new name “Formerly Allahabad Agricultural Institute” will be always mentioned for the period of five years in every official document they will receive from the University.
